Paul Worsteling

Paul Worsteling is one of the best respected and most recognisable faces in Australian recreational fishing thanks to his Logie-nominated work as host of IFISH on Channel 10.

Paul was born in Dandenong, Victoria and lived in Melbourne's south-east suburbs for most of his young life. In 1990 he was Male Dux of St Francis Xavier College Beaconsfield. He then completed a four year Bachelor of Education (physical education) at Deakin University.

When not at school or university, Paul spent every spare minute fishing or working at Cranbourne Bait and Tackle store. In 1996, aged 22, he became its owner and proprietor. After four years of study, Paul's teaching career lasted just three days of emergency work!

Paul's media career started in his late teens with radio updates on community radio 3SER. Their popularity led to his co-hosting a two-hour program on the network, still airing today. Paul still gives a weekly report on the show almost 20 years on, just one of 20 networks he offers fishing tips to. Paul also co-hosts 3AW Melbourne's popular Friday night fishing show.

Paul's television career started with guest appearances on Escape with ET (Ch.9) and Rex Hunt Fishing Adventures (Ch.7). This led to a four year stint as Rex Hunt's co-host, until Paul started the hugely popular IFISH program on the TEN network as writer, creator and star.

Since 2012, IFISH has created Australian TV history by becoming the first fishing show to be nominated for four consecutive Logie Awards as Most Popular Lifestyle program (2012-15).
Paul is actively involved in the community. Every year he offers free fishing tuition to over 500 youngsters through Kids Come Try Fishing Day and his Tackleworld Cranbourne store today donates over $100,000 a year to community events, fundraisers and charities.

Paul's angling accomplishments are many. He holds two Australian Anglers Association records for Mako and Thresher sharks and a Victorian state record for Zebrafish. He has won countless fishing competitions and club championships, but these days much prefers to fish for the love of the sport, than for competition.

Paul Worsteling resides on beautiful Mornington Peninsula with wife Cristy and son, Jet Reef. Every spare minute you will find the Worsteling family fishing together on Western Port or Port Phillip Bay. 1001 Great Fishing Tips (Pan Macmillan 2015) is his first book.
